Many councils contact us about how to replace ageing mercury and sodium street lighting. So we had a light bulb moment – why not put on a whole-day workshop all about it! The workshop will be split into two sessions with lunch provided in between. The morning session, which we are running in partnership with the Premium Light Pro project (run by the Energy Saving Trust), and an expert trainer from the Lighting Industry Academy, will provide delegates with an understanding of the best modern lighting products and their design considerations. There will be a presentation on LED lighting and control, as well as plenty of opportunity to ask questions about your own situation. The afternoon session will address how lighting schemes can be funded and we will have our partners at Salix Finance present to illustrate how parish and town councils can make use of government-backed interest free loans. There will be a presentation on best practice in community engagement and we will feature case studies from parish and town councils that have already completed their street lighting projects. As well as the formal sessions there will be an exhibition area where you can talk to and get ideas from lighting suppliers, installers and contractors.
If your council knows that it needs to do something about replacing the street lights but you are still stumbling around in the dark, this session will definitely help you to see the light! Places will be limited to two per council initially with a reserve list operating subject to space.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop should be attended by the Clerk and a Councillor from each interested Parish or Town Council.
